Is your New Year's Resolution to Lose Weight?

As you contemplate your plans to lose weight and get in shape for the New Year, before you add another diet to your resume and spend your valuable time, energy and money on the latest diet, Holly Rigsby, author of Fit Yummy Mummy advises you to think twice about your decision.

The only thing growing faster than the $65 billion diet industry is the American waistline. If your Resolution for the New Year is to GO on a Diet, the only place I guarantee you will go....is up in weight.
It's a Fact - Diets will only make you fatter.

When it comes to the latest in Diet fads, we are quite gullible and easily tempted by a Diet's empty promised. Reason being....the diet industry KNOWS we are in search of the "quick fix" and will only play with our emotions - our desperation for the quickest way to relieve looking and feeling fat.

Diets are nothing more than Temporary Solutions with many lingering, negative side effects.

Here are the Top 10 Reasons Why you should NOT "go" on a Diet

1. Diets do NOT work. Diets have a 99% Failure Rate. Have you noticed a pattern yet? Lose weight....quickly regain it? Over time, studies show if you diet you are more likely to be overweight than people who eat normally and make small gradual changes to their lifestyle. No, the Law of Averages does not apply to this faulty system.

2. Dieting can be Dangerous. Any time you severely restrict the amount or types of foods you eat you put your health and life at risk. Dieting has been related to injuries and sudden deaths from electrolyte imbalance, malnutrition, and heart arrhythmia's. Weight cycling, or yo-yo-ing weight, is associated with higher death rates - especially if some type of pills are being used. At no point should you ever place weight loss above your health.

3. Dieting Destroys your Metabolism. Diets will cause your weight to quickly cycle up and down. Sure, you may lose weight quickly because you are simply not eating enough. In the initial stages, the first seven to nine pounds lost are water, presenting a real danger of dehydration and mineral deficiencies. Even more terrifying ins the break down of lean muscle due to inefficient
nutrients and calories. If you are losing more than 3-4 pounds a week, you can be sure this is what is happening - very little fat is lost this state.

Now, any muscle loss will cause your metabolism slow to a crawl. The cumulative effect takes place for you cannot survive very long on very low calories (1200 or less) and you will eventually eat more - on top of a slower metabolism. All those excess calories will be stored as fat - causing rapid weight gain.

4. Dieting is Exhausting. Diets are just reduced calorie Fads disguised by a clever gimmick. "Lose weight while you sleep" "Eat all you want and still lose weight" Not eating enough or cutting out certain food groups means your body may not be getting the energy it needs, or may lack certain nutrients. You will feel exhausted, light headed and experience some not-so-fun mood swings.

5. Dieting is Disruptive. Dieting negatively affects your normal eating patterns. Diets can lead to binge eating, overeating and chaotic eating. When you diet, it is common to override your
internal signals telling you to eat. You end up trying to use willpower or resist hunger signals and may even go as far as taking appetite suppressants. This results in being unable to know when
you really are hungry or wore....when you're full.

6. Dieting can lead to eating disorders. Experts state that the high rates of eating disorders in the U.S. are due in part to people dieting, losing weight, rebounding, and becoming chronic dieters.

7. Dieting Causes Food Obsessions. If you spend a large amount of time and energy depriving yourself of food or certain types of food - you will spend more time thinking about food and become obsessed attempts to control your weight by what you choose to eat or not eat. How long do you want to live like this?

8. Dieting Diminishes Women. There is way too much attention focused on our appearance and an arbitrary number on the scale. In the midst of this focus - we end up avoiding what really matters to us - our dreams and ambitions. Even worse, it erodes our confidence and self-respect.

9. Dieting Intensifies Negativity. If you diet, you are more judgmental and critical of yourself and others. Once again, wasted time and energy.

10. Diets Put Your Life on Hold. Does this sound familiar...."I'll be happy when I weigh ______" Guess what, the issues in your life are not related to your weight. Take responsibility and take back control of your life. Decide to be happy now and do what it takes to live a lifestyle that reflects your priorities.

So this New Year resolve to NOT go on a Diet - Set Yourself F.r.e.e. from this miserable, guaranteed to fail weight loss cycle. Do NOT let the diet industry make money by taking advantage of you. It is time to stand up for yourself and take control.

Rest assure that your complete, permanent fat loss solution is found in the Fit Yummy Mummy Lifestyle System - no more guessing what or when you need to eat - no more long hours or boring cardio or complicated workouts - just simple, to the point nutrition and short burst exercise plans that take you step by step to help you effectively burn the baby fat and get your body back. Ken Hendricks, Billionaire R.I.P.

Sad news, Ken Hendricks died today. It was reported that he fell from the roof of his house. He was 66 years old.

According to the Forbes's magazine, Ken was the 91st richest man in United States. He dropped out of school and joined his family's roofing business. From there, it was all uphill. Recently, Ken was quoted as saying it was no big deal for him because all his wealth was tied up in his company. He couldn't spend it!

It sounds like Ken was a low keyed individual that helped out everyone in his local communities. I would have liked to meet him and find out more what he thinks.

But Ken should have let the younger guys fix his roof. Now, his family will have to go through their first Christmas without him.

Very sad.

Try not to do it all yourself if possible. Take it easy and I'll see you next year!

The Steroids Era -- The Mitchell Reports

What do 7 MVP's and 31 All-Stars in professional baseball have in common?

They have been tied to the Steroid scandals.

The long awaited Mitchell Report came out a couple of days ago.

And you may be familiar with many of the names on the report. I'm telling you, it is simply dreadful...

Barry Bonds (take a gander at his rookie picture to your left. The guy was skinny and now look at him!), Roger Clemons, Miguel Tejada and 82 more names...

The idea that someone must abuse their bodies to compete is ridiculous. Go talk to Lyle Alzado. But it is too late. The man is dead. He was 43 years old when he died of brain tumors that were directly caused by his use of steroids to continue his NFL career.

There will be apologists coming out of the woodwork. They will want to rewrite history. They ignore the most important fact of all. Baseball is the past time of United States. Lou Gehrig, Babe Ruth, Joe Dimaggio and many many others.

None of those guys took performance enhancing drugs and they put up fantastic statistics and records.

In fact, Babe Ruth never met a meal that he didn't like. And he was a prodigious drinker too. In fact, you can say that the Babe hit all those homeruns with one hand tied behind his back.

I expect the Major League Baseball commissioner, Bud Selig to come down like a ton of bricks and ban any players convicted of steroid use for life...

Diet.com Weight Loss Challenge: Tonya's Favorite Exercises

This is a nice video I found on youtube.com. Notice that most of the exercises in the video were strength training and interval exercises. None of the cardio crap which doesn't work very efficiently and is a complete waste of your time and energy.

I don't agree on all the exercises you see in this video but most of them would be effective...

Pick a good workout plan that incorporates effective total body strengthening and short bursts of interval exercises to go along with eating good quality meals and you WILL lose body fat.

HS Runner breaks leg but keeps on going...

High school runner breaks leg in meet, crawls to finish anyway

I heard something about this a week or so ago and then ran across this article on ESPN. If you click on the link, it will take you to the article on ESPN and it also shows the video of the poor girl falling 45 feet short of the finish line and then crawling all the way to the end.

Claire Markwardt got picked up by her coach at the end but it made me feel like crying...

You see, her leg broke in two places and she was so determined to finish that she kept on going.

How many of us would do that something like that? And she was supposed to be at her sister's wedding afterwards...

So be a hero and suck it up. Do your exercise, eat the right foods and focus on your goals... Relentlessly!!!

Sending Your Baby to Gym Class?

Four-month-old babies attending gym classes

Worried Mommies and Daddies have been taking the babies to the gym...

They are worried about child obesity. And they probably have too much money.

That is the only explanation I can think of: sending your 4 month child to a special class to exercise. Because quite frankly, if the baby can crawl, they are getting all the exercises they need.

The major culprit of childhood obesity isn't the exercise at 4 months of age. It is what they are eating! Junk foods.

When I was a kid, my folks didn't have to worry about childhood obesity. They just sent my brothers and I outside to do the chores around the farm. We only got three squares a day. No snacking in between meals.

Never got a ounce of fat on me...

And today, it is so easy for the affluent kids to go to the grocery store and load up on chips, candy and soda. Then they go home and watch TV or play on their computers.

This is a recipe for disaster...

Got a great review for new Mommies who want their pre-baby body back...

Proof Positive that Comcast Sucks... A Homeowner Took a Video of the Comcast Technician Sleeping on His Couch...

This video has been seen over a million times. Apparently, this poor "tuckered out" technician was on hold with Comcast for an hour and fell asleep. WITH THE HOMEOWNER VIDEO TAPING HIM!

The point is, don't fall asleep on your weight loss or even weight gain goals. It is really up to you whether or not you will have the body that you deserve and others admire...

Oh yeah, Comcast fired the guy, apologized to the homeowner and probably STILL sucks! :)

South Beach Diet Low Carb

I read something really interesting recently, it seems that nobody is trying to lose weight or get into shape entering the holiday season...

They are all waiting until AFTER New Years Day to start their diet... like with the Low Carb South Beach Diet and others...

I don't know about that but what is the point? You gain 10 pounds and then spend the next few months trying to lose it.

And studies show that MOST people fail to lose weight when they diet... as you will see if you read my website, it is entirely possible to get fatter when you diet...

It's because your body is way smarter than you so quit abusing yourself with yucky diets and gross workouts...

Just take the time to learn exactly what you need to do to get the results you want...

A thinner and muscular body that everyone will admire...

McDonalds and Fast Foods

OK. Let's clear up any conflicting messages here. Fast foods and the granddaddy of all fast food restaurants, McDonald's, DOES NOT have your best interest here...

They sell things to make money and they market it such a way that makes you want it. But the foods they sell are not good for you...

The items on the menu are called junk food for a reason. They raise your blood sugar make your body fatter.

We all know this and go anyway. Go figure.

I cannot understand why foods that are bad for you usually taste really good and the good foods for your body doesn't taste as good...

But it seems that way.

If you are willing to make a life time change and create the healthy and lean body that you wanted...

Ryan Shay -- RIP -- Died of Heart Attack Jogging

The elite distance runner, Ryan Shay collapsed and died yesterday (Saturday) during the U.S. men's marathon Olympic trials.

They said he had an enlarged heart but was cleared by the doctors. But still, I truly believe that human beings were NOT designed for long distance jogging...

That belief is based on studies that show the heart is NOT exercised during jogging. All jogging really does is train the lungs to take in oxygen.

And have you looked at most joggers? They are almost anorexic and have sunken chests. And then compare them with the college sprinters. Those guys are built! They do interval training. Fast, slow, fast slow without constant wearing down of the heart that steady exercises like airobics or jogging...

In fact, you don't even need to jog or run. You can train and sculpt your body using Craig Ballantyne's exercise program, Turbulence Training...

The Future of Weight Loss? Written by Craig Ballantyne the Author of the Top Bodyweight Workouts for Busy Folks...

The Future of Weight Loss?

By Craig Ballantyne

Thanks to a new invention, you can now lose weight by walking while you work.

Researchers from the Mayo Clinic hooked up subjects to a walking workstation - essentially, a treadmill at a stand-up desk - to determine how many calories they could burn while walking at a self-selected velocity (an average of 1.1 mph).

When they worked while sitting in a chair, the subjects burned 72 calories per hour. However, when using the walking workstation at 1.1 mph, they burned an average of 191 calories per hour.

The researchers concluded that using a walking workstation for as little as three hours per day could help people lose up to 60 pounds in a year.

However, let me add my professional opinion. To me, this is nothing more than wishful thinking. Why? Because, as I've reported previously long slow cardio is a waste of time. In fact, even six hours of hard cardio per week results in only an average of six pounds of fat loss in a year.

The bottom line is that aerobic exercise (a.k.a. cardio) is an inefficient way to burn fat. You need to focus on interval training and nutrition to lose that spare tire.

The Miracle Beer Diet Video

This is an amusing "fake" advertorial for beer diet. The point I wanted to make was this ad isn't far off from most of the advertisements we see in the real world. They promise you the sky, take your money and leave you in the gutters. And people fall for those ads because them make billions each and every year. They are doing a horrendous job because most adults are getting fatter and fatter each year.

The slimming club for fat cats and dogs

Well, humans are not the only species that is having trouble with their weight.

And to be honest, humans ARE responsible for the excessive weight gains of their pets...

From the article: "Half of dogs and cats in Britain are overweight, according to the RSPCA."

Article

Wow! The RSPCA also says if you cannot not easily feel a dog or cat's ribs, it is probably overweight.

Their solution: take pet to expensive club to lose weight. My solution? Take a moment of time and really think about what cats and dogs are supposed to eat(Big hint -- MEAT). If they are eating grains and sugar -- alas -- I suspect many dog and cat foods have these ingredients...

And take them out for a walk if they are shut ins...

Just common sense. No need to spend gazillion bucks.

Oh yeah, take the beer away from the cat. :)

Six out of 10 Britons would rather die than exercise

The title says it all. And I am sure this is true for most of the developed world...

Go here to read the article:

So why do we hate exercise so much?

Well sure, we have extremely busy lives -- we scramble all week at work and have no energy in our free time to take care of ourselves.

And making a commitment to workout and tone up our bodies is a really major thing...

But it wasn't always this way...

Up to ten thousand years ago before we invented farming and domesticating the animals -- when we got up -- we had to get the food -- or die.

Simple choices lead to the simple desire to live. But nowadays -- oh come on! If you are hungry -- go to the grocery store -- go to the local eatery.

We are not fighting to survive anymore. Food is plentiful. If you have read my other blog entries or my website, you know I question the kinds of foods we are putting into our bodies.

And I would admit it, if you are not conditioned to exercise, it is really a miserable experience. Not only that, most of us have the wrong idea about exercise. We see lean and mean people jogging by the park or sweating at the club and figure that this is what we have to do to look like them.

Let me tell you a secret -- even those people don't have a clue what they are doing! That's right. Those healthy looking folks probably just got lucky genes in them. So don't follow them!

Get the right book that is going to tell you the truth about exercises and food choices. Do it right, and you will be amazed how easier it is to shape your body and your outlook toward life.

What is the Cause of Acne?

Would you be surprised to hear that the cause for Acne could be your diet?

That is what the author of Acne Free in 3 Days thinks.

He wrote a pretty good book that lays it all out and gives you the information to deal with your Acne problem once and for all.

No herbs. No over the counter or under the counter drugs. No more pimples. No more zits. You can now laugh at John Belushi's cafeteria scene in the movie, "Animal House" without crying...

Ok, seriously... I think Chris Gibson is doing us a great favor here. And you know what? He actually was an Acne sufferer until he figured it out. Not one of those beauty queens that you see on TV all the time selling their Acne products which you know really means, "buy my products for eternity."

Get the book, read it, apply it and see your Acne go away quickly. Let me just make a simple observation... do you really think our ancestors, the cavemen really had a zit problem? Looks and sounds quite ridicous huh? I think Chris is on the right track here and if you find out what NOT to eat, you should see your ugly pimples go away...

Honey, you lost weight...

I hear most women prefer "Honey, you lost weight" to "Honey, I love you."

And if you want to get compliments, you could go about it the old fashioned way...

Sweating to crappy exercises and eating grass!

Ewww -- right?

I believe that most people have little or no idea how to lose the love handles safely and permanently.

And the two MOST reasons for this is -- #1 is glut of bad information from companies/celebrities selling their "magic" weight loss formulas or exercises. Reason #2 is the belief that if you work hard and are discipline -- you WILL lose weight.

And how is that working out for you? Every day new studies show that as a nation, we are getting fatter.

I personally believe the MAJOR KEY to fat loss is doing it right the first time. And to do that, you MUST get information to understand EXACTLY why your current eating and exercising habits are NOT working.

Tom Venuto's book, Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle was written for everybody. No matter what your body type is. No matter if you are a weightlifter. No matter if you are a man or woman. It is easy to read and understand. Tom's book tells you the truth. What foods promotes muscle growth. When to eat. What exercises to do. And many more of your questions will be answered...

Obesity Rates Are Still Climbing...

Loosen the belt buckle another notch America: Obesity rates continued their climb in 31 states last year. No state showed a decline.

Mississippi became the first state to crack the 30% barrier for adult residents considered to be obese. West Virginia and Alabama are just slightly behind, according to the Trust for America's Health, a research group that focuses on disease prevention.

Colorado continued its reign as the leanest state in the nation with an obesity rate projected at 17.6%.

-USA TODAY

Scary huh? Especially for those readers who are already obese. And we can blame our society's embrace for junk food and no exercise.

I say -- Dare to be different!

Why should we "settle" and be very unhappy with ourselves? And I absolutely understand that making a life change is NOT an easy thing to do...

But the simplest way to tackle this problem is to find a fat loss source that tells it like it is and what you can do about it yourself.

How about a book that tells you the secrets of losing fat and gaining muscles. No hype. No drugs. No herbs.

Tom Venuto wrote an e-book that tells you all about the myths and fallacies that surround fat loss. He tells you HOW to plan your meals, what to eat and how to exercise for YOUR body type.

It doesn't get any simpler than that. And you know all the information and crap out there these days from the weight loss industry DOESN'T work!!!

These guys are making out like bandits. The weight loss industry makes billions every year and yet, the adult population of most modern countries are getting fatter every year.

I say to the weight industry -- YOUR FIRED!

I strongly urge you to check out Tom's book, Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle (BFFM). You will be glad you did.

Get Don Imus Some Soap...

I have never heard Don Imus on the radio. But I did see what he had to say a few months back that caused this three ring circus...

And recently, he settled with his former employers who fired him for $20 million dollars.

Does that mean he is redeemed and was right to say what he said about the girl's Rutgers basketball team?

Yes and no.

He has the right to say whatever he wants to say because of one of our most cherished rights as an American. This doesn't excused him for being the miserable excuse of a human being. Saying obnoxious things like he did really has no place in our society.

And then he is getting sued by one of the girls on the basketball team. I don't know if she has a case -- but anything to create some anxiety on Don Imus part is all right with me!

So be careful what you say to others... it may be funny at the time to you but you might regret it. I'm sure we have all been at the recieving end of verbal insults. It isn't nice. It is rude and inconsiderate.

Be the person that is above all the crap that is spewed in our society.

Why Is Everyone Getting Fatter When On A Diet?

If you are dieting -- and it really sucks -- you should consider another approach.

What am I talking about?

I'm glad you asked. I am talking about finding out how your body works and how it processes food.

And you will be surprised, that eating veggies, grass and water is the wrong way to go.

You see, when you restrict calories, your body is way smarter than you. It tells itself, oh-oh! Bad times are a coming.

What does this mean?

Your body slows down its metabolism which is counterproductive to what you are trying to do. As a result, whenever you start your diet, you at first will lost some weight -- but it starts getting harder and harder to lose anymore.

Sounds familiar?

And that is not the worst of it. You see, when you restrict calories, the body must get some energy to support the regular body functions. Since it is in the "starvation mode," the fat that is stored in your body is left alone for future energy storage. Instead, your body metabolizes your muscles!!!

That's right! When you go on a calorie restricted diet, you actually get fatter. Less muscles and the fat is left alone.

That sucks huh? Let's find a better way so that you can eat healthier and not feel like crap all the time.

Did Tim Donaghy Ruin The NBA?

I love sports. I just love watching basketball after the football season is over. You name it. I will watch it...

High School basketball, college basketball and Professional basketball.

And then comes along Tim Donaghy, the NBA referee in the middle of the point-shaving scandal.

Really sad...

I never gamble because I've seen what it does to people at the casinos. I've seen local people get so worked up when an casino opens up near their town...

People do crazy things when they lose money. Lots of money. And then comes along Tim Donaghy.

Is he a victim?

I'm not sure. He willingly gambled and lost a lot of money. It was his responsibility and I personally think he blew it.

He got into trouble with the Mob and the next thing you know...

Tim is covering whatever his Mob bookie wants him too...

Quite frankly, I feel a little dirty...

I may not watch the NBA much this season until they fix the problem

And what is the problem? I think everyone forgot what basketball is all about. Basketball is bigger than any one star, owner, or referee. It is the spectators.

Without them, all the NBA stars who make millions would have to work 9-5 jobs -- just like the rest of us.

OMG! 75% of US Adults will be Overweight by 2015

I don't know how long this article will be posted on Fox but here is the link:

75 Percent of U.S. Adults Will Be Overweight by 2015, Study Says

I believe it is around 66% right now. That is right. 66% of U.S. adults are either overweight or obese. And it is no laughing matter...

Some of my readers will absolutely know what it costs them to be overweight. Medical problems, lack of mobility, poor performance at work due to being tired and so on...

And 41% of the U.S. adults will be obese by 2015. And that my friend is a VERY serious matter. Now we are talking about a serious threat to life...

And what is even more scary is that women and some ethnic populations tend to have a larger proportion of overweight people.

For instance, 80% of Black women over the age of 40 are overweight and 50% of those overweight Black women are obese.

And those living in the southeast -- probably deep south are more likely to be overweight than those who live elsewhere.

The article doesn't conclude WHY exactly but I suspect it is the diet. You see, I believe that our bodies were designed to be lean, mean and healthy but when we feed ourselves with foods that our bodies were not designed for -- all that calories gets saved as fat.

The greatest paradox is that foods that are tasty and plentiful to us -- is killing us by putting ourselves in great danger.

And not to mention being the most miserable experience ever visited on humans. Being humiliated that our body parts jiggle. Being envious of the people who are skinny and wear sexy clothing.

When you are ready -- I mean it. When you are ready, that is the only time you are ever going to fix the overweight problem.

So when you are just mad enough... when you are just humiliated enough... to make that MASSIVE change in your approach to diet and exercise...

ONLY then -- you will succeed. And forget about everyone else. Especially the negative vibes from the "discouragement fraternity."

When you are ready, take a look at some of the books that I have reviewed that is going to work for you because YOU decided to take responsibility and make a change in the way you look and feel about your body.

Winning Through Intimidation

Recently, I read a great book by Robert J. Ringer, "Winning Through Intimidation."

This book was written in 1973 and is remarkably current in today's society.

Robert wrote about his experiences and model theories that are applicable to anything you do in life.

One of his theories is "Organic Chemistry Theory." This theory was based on his college experience in his chemistry class. He described this know-it-all in the lab. The guy practically juggled test tubes and worked effortlessly through the experiments.

And let everyone know about it.

Robert called this guy the "Court Holder." When someone knows-it-all and explains how utterly simple it all is.. he is a court holder. We all know someone like this.

To continue the story...

And poor Robert Ringer... he was so confused. So he hit the books every night studying as hard as he could... just so that he could catch up.

And then the day of the exam. Robert got the highest score in the class, way above anyone else. And the court holder? He scored about the median. That meant half the class did better than him...

Go figure...

So don't let anyone intimidate you by being a know-it-all. Chances are... it is his ego talking.

Andrew Speaker and Tuberculosis

"I flew to Europe and back and all I got was this stupid T-shirt"

OK. Andrew Speaker is a personal-injury lawyer. He somehow contacted a severe form of tuberculosis that is resistant to antibiotics.

CDC made the recommendation that he not make any travel plans. (And to be fair, he was not prohibited from traveling at the time).

He wanted to travel so he could marry his finance in Europe... as it turned out... they never got married as planned on this trip.

Andrew made so many decisions that put his fellow passengers and whoever he met at risk. Now all these people have to be tested to be sure they didn't contact it.

In case you didn't know, TB is a very slow growing bacteria. It takes a day and half to divide. So you know what this means... you have to keep taking the test to make sure you don't have it. It can be years.

So I imagine that a lot of people will be suing Andrew the lawyer. Sometimes Karma is a bitch.

Nicole Richie is Thinner than a Rail - But is She Sexy?

If you believe the National Enquirer and Star magazines...

They would have you believe that Nicole Richie is in rehab for addition to pills and treatment for anorexia.

Wow.

And they say she only weighs 83 pounds...

Double wow.

What can I say when a girl in her twenties weights less than 99% of the adults in the civilized world?

It makes you wonder what kind of pressure she puts on herself to be this way... And being severely malnourished is NOT good thing at all...

I seriously doubt even with all her fame and fortune -- she is happy.

So your number one goal today should be this... what can I do to make myself happy?

Write it down. And do it!!!

Is Jennifer Love Hewitt having a bad day?

Everybody has problems... Even one of my favorite actress

Even Jennifer Love Hewitt. She is being sued by her former management firm.

Who is right? Who knows.

It will be taken care of. Jennifer probably has a professional team that takes care of these things so she doesn't have to worry about it.

And sure... she has money. Loads of it.

But that doesn't mean you and I are any different. We need to have something in place to avoid stress because as sure as death and taxes -- these situations are going to happen to us eventually.

So what do we do about it?

If I may, I have read this awesome book that you can pick up at any bookstore. It is "Psycho Cybernetics," by Dr. Maltz.

Get the 2nd edition... it reads so much easier than the earlier version which was written 50 years ago or so.

The key concept that is propounded by this book is that you can "program" your mind for success. It isn't a wild theory. It doesn't involve animal sacrifices... :)

It is a simple book that has exercises at the end of each chapter that you can use to train yourself for success. Success in your professional field. Success in love. Success in whatever you want to do up to and including weight loss.

Leandro Barbosa - Former Skinny Guy

Congrats to Leandro Barbosa. The NBA selected him as the winner of the 6th Man award.

I believe he came from Brazil and he arrived a skinny, 20-year-old who could not speak English.

Now look at him.

Which brings up a good point, if you are sick and tired of being a scrawny and skinny guy, good news!!!

I found out about a guy who used to be skinny. He was 6 ft and 145 pounds. He called himself a skinny "twerp."

Well, he figured out how to gain muscle mass and looks great. In fact, you can see his "before" and "after" picture on his website. He wrote a book, "No-Nonsense Muscle Building." It is absolutely fantastic and he said that skinny guys CAN gain a lot of muscle mass in a short period of time.

It is just a matter of eating the correct amount of correct foods, at the correct times. So it you are interested, check out his website at:

Jessica Alba Thinks She is Fat

Say it isn't true Joe!!!

In spite of Victoria's Secret selecting Jessica Alba as the sexiest actress... Jessica Alba has neurosis and self doubts about her image.

Go figure.

We all have seen her pictures and movies -- we scratch our heads and wonder if she has "lost her marbles."

She said at the interview with the Rolling Stone magazine, "I hear people in this industry talking s*** all the time about how Jennifer Lopez is fat," she says tersely. "And I know if they're calling her fat, they're saying the same s*** about me."

Wow.

But the truth is...

A LOT of people feel the same way! So you have a choice -- either waste your time and energy worrying about what people think about you and more importantly, worrying about what YOU think of yourself.

If you ask me, worrying is a waste of time. Either it is something that will never happen or it is an act of procrastination.

If it's the latter, I heard 'em all. And they are all B.S.!!!

And we will never do anything unless the pain of NOT doing it becomes greater than the pain of actually doing it.

Lindsay Lohan Loses Weight

Health warning: all diets make you fat

(Check out the before picture of Lindsay Lohan. The before picture is a typical picture of someone who is skinny-fat. )

There comes a point when you lose heart - when a diet seems like the only answer. But could it be that dieting had made me fatter?

According to research published by scientists from the University of California this week, the answer is: absolutely.

The Californian team analysed more than 30 studies of diets; one study found that a group of dieters ended up fatter than a control group who hadn't restricted their food at all.

I believe this. Trust me when I say this but those who go on starvation diets end up fatter. There is a simple explaination for this...

As Tom Venuto, the author of the best selling fat loss eBook today, Burn the Fat Feed the Muscles would say:

When you starve yourself, your body goes into the "starvation mode." The body will conserve energy. Since your muscles uses energy and calories, the body will reduce the muscles and store fat. By the end of your starvation diet, you actually have less muscles and more fat. Which is EXACTLY the opposite of what you were trying to accomplish.

It's insane huh? Why not try to lose fat safely and permanently? After all, the human body wasn't designed to be fat. It happened because of our eating habits and lack of proper exercises were counterproductive to building healthy and lean bodies...

Check out Tom Venuto's book if you want to know more...

Battle of the Sexes is causing weight gains

I recently read an article named... "Cohabitation is Bad for Women's Health."

Oh God. (sigh) As soon as I read this article, I knew it was gonna be a good one -- and controversial to boot!

To sum up this article, "Dietitians have found that women tend to gain weight once they move in with male partners. "

I really, really find this theory hard to believe because most people make bad eating choices BEFORE they meet anyone.

If anything, women may restrict their eating to slim themselves while dating. While I do commend anyone who wants to maintain a healthy and slim lifestyle, following a diet that severely restricts your calories is NOT a good idea.

I just wanted to throw that in before moving on...

However, I wonder if this article was written by someone who just wants to restart the battle between sexes.

To me, it is just a crutch to blame someone else for your bad eating choices. After all, I have NEVER heard of anyone being forced to eat pizza, sodas, junk food and other crappy foods at gun point.

This is a ridiculous image huh?

What do you think?

Acne Treatment for Sufferers... Acne Free in Three Days by Chris Gibson Review...

As Chris Gibson, the author of the eBook, "Acne Free in Three Days" said, "Acne is a serious problem and is not fun."

Although scientists are not exactly sure what is the cause of acne or those ugly pimples The general consensus is that the pore on your skin collapses on itself and prevents oil from escaping. Since there are so many different possibilities that causes pimples, it makes sense we should just put our efforts into finding a tested and effective acne treatment.

For hundreds of millions of people around the world, acne rears its' ugly head often and with a vengeance. Teenagers are at the highest risk, with 70 percent of them affected with these gross and painful blemishes. Clear, glowing skin, free of acne is exactly what we want.

Exercise experts pick top 10 fitness myths

Dallas Morning News | News for Dallas, Texas | Life/Travel: Health

The writer asked several fitness experts to pick out the top 10 fitness myths.

Here are my favorites:

1. Sit-ups or crunches will burn fat off your abs.

2. There is an easy way to lose weight.
4. Weightlifting makes women big and bulky.

Ab flab is probably one of the most common complaints of adults in modern society. As a result, the professional marketers know this and target those people in magazine ads and info commercials on tee vee.

But the truth of the matter is, you can have the greatest rock hard ab muscles in the world but as long as you have fat, you will never see it. So the key thing to do is to work on overall body exercises and nutrition. The abs will come later...

The second issue is that seeking an easy way to lose weight is a losing proposition(pun intended). Losing weight is simple but not easy. You have to focus on the proper nutrition and exercises that will burn fat like nobody's business. But you have to do it. Nutrition and exercises is simpler than you think...

The last one is the oldie but goody. Jamie Eason, the gorgeous fitness model has said this too, if you want to lose fat, you must build up your muscles. Worrying about looking like those East German athletes of twenty years ago is NOT going to happen. They took steroids.

Women can look sleek and toned with muscles. So try using dumbells or rubber bands instead of listening to people who don't know what they are talking about. See how your body responds. I think you will be pleased...

Workout Routine to Get Rid of Fat

Ok, so you want to get rid of all that fat chunks on your body? Well, congratulations! When you are finally mad enough, it is a good thing. That is because it is time for you to find a way to tackle your nasty fat problem.

Craig Ballantine is one of the good guys. He wrote a very good eBook called, "Turbulence Training." You see, Craig is a very prolific writer. He has articles in all the major muscle magazines and websites. So he knows what he is talking about.

Now, you can find some "magic pills" or magic ab machine but let me save you the time... they don't work.

The ONLY way to get rid of your fat safely is the natural way. However, the natural way may NOT be what you think it is...

The natural way is simply the way humans have been eating and exercising for hundred of thousands of years. If you didn't know that, farming was only invented 10,000 years ago -- a blip in the history of humans.

So if we choose to eat and exercise that worked for our ancestors -- guess what? You are gonna be amazed what you look like. The best part is that the natural way is healthier and permanent.

And it doesn't mean you have to work out like a dog doing aerobic exercises. It doesn't mean you have to eat grass and carrots.

If you are curious, be sure to check out this article by Craig Ballantine "Workouts for a Busy Gym" here:

Connor McCreaddie 217 pounds and only 8 Years old

Eight Years Old and 217lbs: Connor McCreaddie's Struggle - Associated Content

Ok. This situation deserves a mention on my blog because it has the potential to become tragic due to bad eating habits and non-existent exercises...

In case you haven't heard or seen the news lately, the child care officials in England had threatened to remove Connor from his mother due to his high level of obesity. To be it in perspective, he weighs more than 5 times the average weight of another child his age!

So mom is being accused of maltreating her kid. And the article does mention she loves him so much that she will give him whatever he wants to eat. And what kid is going to turn down junk food to eat healthy foods?

NO ONE!!!

And the article mentions his exercise routine is non existent.

Well surprise...

You see, the obesity epidemic doesn't strike just adults -- it can even strike kids who shun the ordinary things kids like to do and eat all the junk food he wants.

Is his mother to blame? Well, let's get real here... she isn't putting her foot down and saying, "Eat your broccoli or No dessert for you tonight young man!"

But I am glad the government officials are not taking Connor away from his mom. I think that is extreme and would be more damaging.

However, I do think Connor's mom should definitely get some coaching how to take care of Connor and bring his weight down safely. She will have to learn how to be strong and disciplined.

Not an easy task...

What do you think?

Review of Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle Written by Tom Venuto

Tom Venuto is a competitive natural bodybuilder. He knew the secrets to fat loss because all the bodybuilders know it. So he decided to write a book about how ANYONE -- Bodybuilders or regular everyday people like you and me -- can lose our fat and gain muscles.

And the secret to fat loss? It is simple -- gain muscles!!!

Because muscles burn more calories than fat. If done right, your new muscles will burn fat while you are sleeping -- while you are watching tv -- while you are working in front of your computer...

So you need to learn how to grow mucles. However, it is not easy. You will have to eat six meals a day. You will have to educate yourself what is good quality foods to eat. And you will have to determine which exercises that are efficient and doesn't waste your valuable time.

Well, with Tom Venuto's book, Burn the Fat Feed the Muscles, there is no guessing. Tom will tell you flat out what to do. He won't confuse you like most of the weight loss products out there in the oversatuated market does.

Check out my review of Tom's book here:

Anna Nicole Smith & the TRIMSPA Controversy

Anna Nicole Smith: TRIMSPA or Slim-Fast?

Anna Nicole Smith. How she seemed to love to fascinate and shock people! Playmate of the year in the 90's, sleazy reality tv show, drugs, fluctuating weight, and the question of the father of her 5 month daughter.

Anna Nicole Smith was the spokesperson for diet product company, Trimspa. And both are being sued in a class-action lawsuit alleging their marketing of a weight loss pill is false or misleading.

And to top all that, Anna Nicole Smith was seen with products from Slim Fast. I assume that TRIMSPA has been very unhappy about this and may have been considering the option of firing her.

But Anna Nicole Smith's death has made the point moot.

What do you think? Did diet products work for you?

88 Years Young and Still Going Strong!

Seniors find anti-aging elixer: Exercise

While statistics show the older people get, the less likely they are to exercise, a lot of seniors are bucking this trend.

All I can say about this is "Good for them!!!"

I was in California last week for my best friend's wedding. I have pictures to prove it, but she was definitely NOT acting her age! She was dancing and laughing. And she is 88 years old.

I teased my friend and asked him when is his mother going to "act her age." :)

"Never," he replied with a grin.

My point is don't let age limit your life. In fact, start now so that when you get older, your body doesn't have all the years of bad nutrition and lack of exercise breaking it down.

Short bursts of exercise could boost weight loss

Short bursts of exercise could boost weight loss

It is a little cutting edge but there are some truths to interval exercises. Now, I am not a medical expert but I do read a lot of material on fat loss.

And my understanding of this is that interval sprinting exercise routine kicks butt when compared to aerobic exercises.

First of all, aerobic exercises doesn't help your heart. It just trains the body to endure longer periods of movements. Think about it, lots of people actually die while jogging. And didn't that jogging guru, Jim Fixx dies while jogging?

If you just supposed that in the long history of human beings -- we actually spend lots of time running at the top of our speed to kill the Woolly Mammoth or running away from the Sabertooth Tigers. I don't see those cavemen jogging to get from one place or another. But they did do a lot of walking (which by the way is a great exercise for us.).

So it is either walking or running really really fast. So why the obsession with joggers?

Take two cabbages and an egg | NEWS.com.au

Take two cabbages and an egg | NEWS.com.au

Everyone has some favorite natural cold remedy. I subscribe to the cold shower theory. I take cold showers every morning and I live up in the northwest part of the country.

I got the idea from a man who swears by it and takes a pitcher of cold water and walks outside twice a day in bare feet and dumps the water over his head. Since he lives in northern Canada, it means he walks outside in the snow and does his thing.

Am I crazy? Maybe so but I can tell you this story and let you decide...

I visited a very good friend over the holiday in another state. When I got back home, she called and said that she was very sick with the flu and hoped I didn't catch it too.

Well, you know what is going to happen... I started feeling the symptoms of a flu, sore throat and stuffy nose.

And I am going on no!!! It is going to be a bad one since I haven't been sick for two years. I have no antibodies left.

But the symptoms left at the end of the day and I didn't come down with the flu!

My poor friend was out of it for four long days...

The only thing I could think of was the cold showers. You see, ancient cultures believed that cold water enervates your nervous systems and boosts your immune systems.

I totally believe that the cold showers saved my bacon. Are you gonna try it now?

China's Wealth Breeds Obesity

Bloomberg.com: Asia

China's Wealth Breeds Obesity, Sparking Boom in Stomach Surgery. Well, it seems that obesity isn't a western problem anymore. In fact, some would argue that obesity has been exported by the western world into China.

In a more serious note, it is getting more and more obvious why obesity is becoming an epidemic. Lack of exercise plus excessive consumption of simple carbohydrates and bad fats.

And it really doesn't matter historically, how lean your ancestors are so you can't blame everything on the fat gene. The Chinese are one of the skinniest people on the planet and if they are getting fat, the fat gene theory is getting thrown out the window.

And it is ironic that the foods that are bad for you in the developed countries are usually cheaper than the healthy foods. It is is the opposite in the underdeveloped countries. And guess which side has an abundance of a healthy population? This is such an interesting subject that I will definitely talk about at a later post.

Strong Man -- Otto Arco

Not many people know about Otto Arco (his real name was Otto Nowosielsky). He was only 5'2" and 138 pounds soaking wet.

But he was incredibly strong and was a champion wrestler.

Otto Arco was born in Poland in 1881. He won the Austrian wrestling title in 1903 at the age of 22.

He was considered pound for pound... the strongest man alive.

It seems the methods the early strongmen used has faded away in history. Nowadays, everyone wants to use weights, isolation exercises and floor situps to achieve fitness goals. But what is happening is that the modern warriors are also getting hurt more often and not as strong. Sure they have big muscles but they don't have functional muscles.

Doesn't Matter Where You are From or How Old

Cayman Islands - Cay Compass News Online - Bodybuilder makes his mark

Meet Xavier D’Souza. He is from India but lives in the Grand Cayman. Xavier is also 37 years young. He has won bodybuilding trophies for the past few years and shows no slowing down.

He stopped by for an interview and the interviewer couldn't help noticing that he is a soft spoken gentleman that is remarkably humble...

Xavier credits body building for opportunities as well as keeping him healthy and fit. He does state that bodybuilding is for the serious athletes because they need to eat every three hours and train 5-6 days a week.

And he likes to say to all the people when he is on the stage, that he always gives his best no matter what placing he gets.

Sounds like a good guy to me!

Wouldn't it surprise you to know that Tom Venuto's book, Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle already spells out the exercise and diet plan to follow to cut down your body fat and build your muscles. And sure, not everyone has the right body but you can make yours the best you want it to be...

He made a challenge to other famous wrestling champions around the world. Most of them refused to fight Gama. As George Forman would say, "They are scared of me!" :)

If you look at his image to the left, you will see massive tree trunks for legs.

If you wondered how he developed them, he did Hindu squats and Hindu jumper squats. No fancy free weights. No isolation weights. Just simple Hindu squats that trains the legs as one unit.

Who is Your Role Model?

Testosterone Nation - The Jamie Eason Experience

YOu will find that most if not all, successful people have a role model. The purpose of having a role model is a simple way to focus on your goals.

And you do have a goal? Well, this is another common trait of successful people. But we can talk about this another day...

Let's say you are looking for a female role model that is similar to your body type. A girl that isn't too masculine and someone that isn't doesn't have that freaky, anorexic look.

Well, do what I do. I did an Internet search in the image tab. Let's use "fitness model." Up will pop dozens if not hundreds of fitness models. I picked Jamie Eason.

If you don't know anything about her, she is a fitness model that graced several fitness magazines and won several competitive bodybuilding shows.

But you see, the best thing about her is she is pretty smart, honest and humble. Did I mention that she looks great? She is in her early 30s, 5'2". Her weight is 110 to 112 pounds in the off-season and between 98 and 102 in-season. Her body fat is 12-15% off-season and 7-9% in-season.

I read an interview about her. She uses common sense to approach fitness. She made fantastic comments about getting fit.

However, she does admit she has great genetics that allow her to easily get the body she has. Let me just say here that there is 3 major body types. And once you figure out which one is yours, you will need to make a specific dieting and exercising program that "fits" you like a glove. Sure, you may not ever look like her but you sure can look like someone else that has a similar body type as yours and looks fantastic.

But Jamie Eason still needed to follow no-nonsense eating habits to achieve the shape and look of her body. Since she probably has a Ectomorph body type, she only works her legs twice a week and all the other muscles only once a week. She is NOT a big believer in cardio but does some during the week. Again, if you have a different body type, you may have to work more to get similar results. At the same token, DON'T use your body type as an excuse to give up. You can be amazed at what YOU can do... if you set your mind to it.

Jamie eats 5-6 meals a day (And surprise, this is exactly what Tom Venuto recommends in his book, Feed the Muscle Burn the Fat). Each meal has lean protein plus slow digesting carbs.

And guess what else?

She has always admired the physiques of Corey Everson and Rachel McLeish. She had role models too! Until she hired a nutritionist and personal trainer, she never knew the secrets to getting that toned, athletic look she has now.

And you don't have to spend a whole lot of money on experts. Tom Venuto's book does an admirable job explaining a diffult subject that has been totally screwed up by fast buck crowds selling the latest fad or phony theory of losing body fat and gaining toned muscles.

BTW, Jamie Eason said nobody will ever see her posing in the buff. And she hopes her male fans will understand this. She wants to be someone that women can relate to instead of those skinny, no-muscle, heroin-addict look. In fact, the only person who will see her in her birthday suit is the lucky guy she marries...

I hate to be the bearer of bad news... sorry guys!

By now, you have to admit that finding someone with a similiar body type that has had success will absolutely help you achieve your own weight and fitness goals!

Getting started is half the battle. Get your weight loss diet plan today!
